Legal & Privacy

Controller

This is the private website of Daniel Schwarz. It serves his personal introduction for professional contacts; no goods or services are offered, no advertising is shown, no users are tracked.

Controller within the meaning of the GDPR: Daniel Schwarz. Contact for privacy matters: [contact channel to be added – e.g. a dedicated e-mail address].

Hosting and access

When you open the site, the server processes your IP address as technically necessary to deliver pages (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). No permanent access logs with IP addresses are kept. No analytics or tracking services are embedded; fonts and all content are served by this website itself.

“Ask Daniel” assistant

Your questions are sent to this website's server to be answered (WebSocket connection). To answer, the text of your question together with the conversation of this session is sent to the Anthropic API (Anthropic PBC, USA; Claude models); Anthropic processes the data as a processor under its API terms and does not use it for training. Purpose: answering your question about Daniel’s professional profile; legal basis: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in an interactive personal introduction. The server does not store conversations; in case of faults or overload a local rule engine answers without any external service. Prepared answers (choice bubbles, clicks on stations, figures, the fit check) are answered by the rule engine without any external service. If you switch on read-aloud, the assistant’s answer text – never your question – is sent to a cloud speech service (Google Cloud Text-to-Speech or Microsoft Azure Speech, depending on configuration) for synthesis; the generated audio files are cached without any personal reference. If no such service is configured, your browser reads aloud itself. Please do not enter personal data of third parties. The conversation of the current session is kept in your browser's session storage so it survives a language switch; it ends when the tab is closed.

Speech output

The assistant's voice is off by default. If you switch it on, your browser generates the speech locally (Web Speech API). Depending on your browser settings, your browser may use an online service of the browser vendor for some voices; that is outside this website.

Technically necessary storage

“Remember conversation” – only with your consent

The “Remember conversation” switch is currently hidden; earlier consents remain viewable and deletable via the footer. By default your conversation is not stored permanently. If you switch on “Remember conversation”, you consent (§ 25(1) TDDDG, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) that

Purpose: the assistant can pick up your conversation on your next visit. Retention: 180 days after the last visit, then automatic deletion. Withdrawal: switch off or “Delete” – conversation, identifier and server entry are removed immediately. Access: “What is stored?” shows the complete server entry. No data is shared with third parties.

Request

When you send the request, the details you enter (reply address, message, optionally name, company, role, timeline, budget) are transmitted to the server and used to handle your request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR – steps prior to entering into a contract or employment). The message may be pre-drafted from your conversation with the assistant; you see and edit it before sending. The data is kept until the request is concluded and for at most six months afterwards, and is not shared.

The checkbox “Include my interaction with this page” (on by default, can be unticked at any time) adds to the request: the referring page, which sections you viewed and for how long, what you clicked, and the conversation with the assistant in this session. This is stored together with the request and used only to handle it (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Without the checkbox none of it is transmitted. Independently, your browser passes the referring page to the assistant when the page opens so that answers fit the context; it is not stored.

Videos and external links

Preview images for talks and streams are served by this website itself. Only when you click a video is a player of the respective provider (e.g. YouTube, Twitch) loaded; from then on its privacy policy applies. Links to LinkedIn and GitHub lead to third-party services.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection (Art. 15–21 GDPR), and the right to withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future. You may lodge a complaint with a data-protection supervisory authority, for example the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision.
